The death rate for anyone who caught bubonic plague was 30-75%. The pnuemonic Plague killed 90-95% of those infected. The septicemic plague killed almost all of the people it infected and does not currently have a cure.
Many people believed the plague was caused by pockets of bad air released by earthquakes or by an unfavorable alignment of Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars in the 40th degree of Aquarius on March 20, 1345.
In about 1353 the King of a city in Germany was handed a cloth containing plague infested fleas. He died four days later, but before he died he implimented a quarentine so all infected people were quarentined and that spared half of the town.
After being tortured, some Jews confessed that they were poisoning wells and other water sources, creating the plague. As a result, Jews were expelled or killed by the thousands.
During the course of the plague, thousands of Jews were exiled or murdered. In one German city, Strasbourg all the Jews in the city were asked to convert to christianity. Those that did not were burned at the stake. About 2,000 died.
The Black Plague spread to every country in Europe because of trade routes.
